Meet Cat

“My goal is make self-induced premarital abstinence the norm, not casual sex. Think of the lives that could be improved, the women and men (and their children) who would benefit from sane dating without sex. I know individuals would be better for it, and so would our society,” says Catherine "Cat" Lewis.
Cat is currently happily married and happily mothering. She credits her terrific life to practicing premarital abstinence while dating.
“I wanted to be married and raising children in a good, solid marriage, but I wasn’t getting any closer to my goal. I kept getting swept away by passionate but short-term relationships. It always seemed like real love at first, but within months, or even a year or two, it evaporated,” she says.
“After awhile, I realized that the huge emotional outpouring in the first few months wasn’t love, it was lust or attraction. When I took sex out of the picture, I no longer found myself in those relationships. I learned to date with my brains, not my emotions.”
Cat took an oath of abstinence on May 5, 1998 and dated over a hundred men in a year’s time thanks to a local dating service in California. She says it was the best year of her life to discover what she wanted in a marriage and for her life.
Cat met and eventually married a wonderful man who supported premarital abstinence right up until the wedding night. While he admits he found the choice very difficult at times, he agrees that by waiting for sex their life is unbelievable.
Her husband says, “We’re best friends, great partners and parents, and I’m not missing out on anything, now that we’re married.”
While taking birth control pills, Cat became pregnant. She gave birth to her first child ten months after the wedding. She laughs and says, "I always maintained that birth control is not 100% effective, and then I became living proof!"
Remember, birth control can and does fail for many couples each year. If you're having sex, ensure that it's POSTmarital sex with your spouse, and you've both undergone STD testing and have discussed how together you'll handle a pregnancy. That way, you and your unborn children are fully protected.
